Dear Parents,

On February 25, from 4:30-8:00 p.m., East Allen University will be conducting our annual Parent Teacher Conference Night. The past two years, parent and student attendance has been tremendous. In fact, this night has been so well attended, that our parents have had difficulty meeting with each of their student’s teachers. In an effort to improve our service to our parents, we have developed a plan that we believe will reduce the amount of time parents have to wait to speak to a teacher. We hope this plan will ensure that every parent can meet with their student’s teachers.

The first phase of our plan is to attempt to have parent arrival staggered. Our hope is that this will keep lines from building up as parents wait to speak with the teachers. Thus, we are recommending (if possible) that you arrive at the suggested times bulleted below. If these suggested times do not work with your schedule, you are welcome to attend anytime between 4:30-8:00 p.m.

  • Last Name Starting with A-G suggested time is from 4:30-5:40 PM
  • Last Name Starting withH-N suggested time is from 5:40-6:50 PM
  • Last Name Starting with O-Z suggested time is from 6:50-8:00 PM

The second phase of our plan involves changing the location of our conferences with parents.  We are going to hold the conferences in the cafeteria instead of the teacher’s classrooms. This idea came from our parent council group and they believe it will speed up the conference process.  This is a process that many of them have seen implemented successfully at other schools. We are also asking that our individual conferences be kept to 10 MINUTES or less.  We understand that our conferences may be short, but our teachers will be prepared with the bulleted items below to ensure a productive conference occurs.

  • Grade related information like homework, quizzes, and test scores (parents already have access).
  • A list of tutoring options (written handouts)
  • Teacher contact information (written handouts)
  • Teachers may extend the conference if other parents are not waiting

Lastly, one of our goals at EAU is to provide students and parents with GREAT customer service. We are hopeful that these changes will help us meet this goal. We are looking forward to meeting with you on February 25. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us using the information below.

Sincerely,

Doug Hicks
